2018 LEGACY LOVE TODAY TOUR
with special guests EarthKry (Jamaica), Digital Afrika and Stick Mareebo
Following announcements on several festivals around Australia including The Gulf Country Frontier Days Festival in Burketown QLD in August, Island Vibes Festival on Stradbroke Island in October, and The Pleasure Garden in St Kilda in December; Kiwi roots reggae ambassadors KATCHAFIRE have announced 2018 Legacy Love Today Tour dates around the country to celebrate the release of their 5th studio album ‘Legacy’ and the success of several singles lifted from the album including ‘Love Today’.
It was no surprise when KATCHAFIRE dropped their new ‘Legacy’ album on June 1st that it hit No.1 on Reggae Album Charts within hours of release in NZ & USA and No.3 on the Billboard Reggae charts, but the album has also gone on to have an impact on mainstream/pop iTunes charts around the world including: #1 in New Zealand, #8 in Poland, #24 in Australia, #56 in Lichtenstein and Ivory Coast, #57 in USA, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Maldives, Myanmar, Palestine and Libyan Arab Jamahiriya!
The band popped into Hawaii for a surprise performance at the Island Music Awards on Saturday 9th June, where they were also finalist nominees for Group Of The Year, ahead of their 33 date tour of mainland USA which kicked off on June 13.
Tour dates in UK/Europe in 2019 will be announced soon.
The ‘Legacy’ album has received glowing reviews from media around the world:
“The musicianship and stunning playing on this album are so superb. Years of touring have pushed this band beyond a simple party crew elevating them to the highest level. Every song on this album is an instant classic. This band is and will continue to be revered taonga.”

“With Legacy, Katchafire continue their conscious journey through space and time, adding their very own flavour to the universe of Reggae music. Their growing popularity both home and abroad will ensure that their feel-good-vibe is available to many concert- and festival-visitors around the world. You better catch this fire!“
“And as I sit here with my Bose headphones wrapped around my head there’s a party going off between my ears as this amazing band from “The Land Of The Great White Cloud” rocks steady and I wonder if the majestic islands nick-name refers to a weather occurrence or the fact they must have some realy irie Kaya down under.”
Eastern Surf Magazine (USA)
“The all NZ group of reggae rockers have an authentic reggae sound unlike anything I have heard in modern music. What I love about the fifth KATCHAFIRE album LEGACY is that whilst sticking heavily to their reggae roots, they seamlessly blend genres of RnB, Jazz, Pop-rock, Big-Band, disco, funk and Soul throughout the 12-tracks”.
“On LEGACY, Katchafire manages to combine a wealth of influences into something unexpectedly singular, making the album a wonderful discovery, while challenging expectations within the songs themselves, which will impress longtime fans or first-time listeners.”
“On Legacy, Katchafire tapped into their expansive musical network of family and friends to create an album that is both classic and progressive.”
The ‘LEGACY’ album is exciting and fresh with messages of love, hope, togetherness, and family; with the 12 songs on this album being recorded in numerous studios around the world from New Zealand and Australia to LA and Hawaii to Jamaica, featuring collaborations with some of reggae’s finest; with the cover art featuring Hawaiian artist Herb Kane’s “War Canoes Of The New Zealand Maori”.
Recent line-up changes have added new fuel to the ‘Fire and the first three singles from the ‘LEGACY’ album – ‘Addicted’, ‘Way Beyond’ & ‘Love Today’ – have been picking up airplay on roots reggae radio and added to playlists around the world with ‘Love Today’ hitting the Top 20 on the Global Reggae Chart.
There is no stopping the ‘Fire!!
